Snake in the Grass
A poem is a snake in the grass
Undulating and slithering
Faraway in the sun
Cold to hot
Dangerous or not
Snakes in the garden
Where else could they be?
In a poem, in a tree,
Silent or rattling
In a barn,
Near a cairn
Striking! Striking!--
So unexpectedly
Such symmetry.
Up to their ass
Metaphorically speaking.
Simile Projected.
Rejected.Protected.
Neglected.
Refracted, Fractured and alone.
